Dimensions: A Line, A Loop, A Tangle Of Threads

Suitably refreshed the audience returned to their seats for the new production team of Sloane U’Ren and Ant Neely and their “period sci-fi”
Both were on hand to field questions about the making of the film and explain why they had to sell their home to finance the film. The plot is a tangled web mixing reality and imagination, and concerning Stephen, a brilliant young scientist who meets a charismatic professor at a garden party. The professor persuades him as to the potential for time travel by manipulating dimensions. Stephen’s search to achieve time travel involves an emotional ride which takes its toll on his fragile mind.
U’Ren directed and designed the film and her husband wrote the script and composed and played the music. Both had enjoyed careers in the film industry for many years both in Hollwood and in TV production. They decided to finance their film independently without waiting for an industry backer. Their film proved to be an artistic success picking up the award for Best Picture at both The 2011 London Film Festival and The 2012 Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival. Whether it will prove to be a commercial success is as yet unknown because the film has not yet found a distributor though it outsold screen for screen the likes of “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” when first shown.
Let us hope its makers are not rendered homeless by this exercise and become reclive. If so there’s a tree-lined bothy over the Scottish border somewhere but its current occupier might take exception to interlopers!
