The Problem With People
Reviewed by Vaughan Ames
Sunday night's film was billed as an Irish comedy; well it did make me laugh twice and some people (by the results of our regular voting system) did like it, but overall I can only say the majority were 'underwhelmed'!
Colm Meaney played Ciáran, the Irish son of a dying man, Fergus, who wanted to heal the rift in the family from three generations back when one brother had moved to America. Ciáran duly rings around New York until he finds his cousin Barry, played by Paul Reiser. When Barry arrives in the tiny Irish town, all goes well…till Fergus dies and leaves half his estate to Barry. Arguments follow, they make up, they fall out, they make up…you get the idea. The whole mess ended when Barry's daughter meets Ciáran's ex-wife and falls in love..! 'Nuf said...
