Treasurer's Notes 2024-2025

All spending and invoices have been checked by me and again by an independent person. The figures and paperwork are now with our accountant for preparation into the formal Annual Accounts document for submission to the Charities Commission. I am reporting our final cash position ignoring outstanding invoices (these will be shown as Creditors in the annual accounts). The film industry seems to be uniquely useless in issuing invoices despite rapid submission (by me) of Box Office Returns, and numerous reminders. Of the outstanding invoices for 2023 - 2024, one has been paid. There are £1793.56 invoices for 2024 - 2025 that have not yet arrived. Experience suggests that most will never be received.

Venue Hire costs have increased significantly. Printing increases are mostly due to the Festival (celebrating 25 years!). Venue Costs have already increased again by 50% for 2025-2026 and this will continue to weaken our cash unless we can persuade more people to attend the Sunday screenings. Ticket prices have (since Jan 2026) increased in line with Alhambra but we now need at least 85 in the audience on a Sunday to break even. Admin costs increased partly due to wine and nibbles beings provided and this has now been dropped except at the AGM. Film Hire costs reflect the size of the audience and are not a concern.

The Festival 'washes its face' and is not a financial drain on the club

The club remains in a satisfactory financial condition and one years' data should not be used to create a knee jerk in any direction, but the pressures of small audiences and high venue charges should not be ignored.
