Saving Our Rainforests
Short Film
Friday 20 Mar 9:00pm
Alhambra Screen 2
This visually stunning documentary sheds new light on Britain's best kept secret: the UK's rare
temperate rainforests, with a focus on Borrowdale in Cumbria. Covering less than 1% of the
planet, these habitats are rarer than tropical rainforests and are in urgent need of recognition and protection.
Borrowdale contains one of the largest remaining portions in the UK, making it a vital site for
conservation. The film highlights the unique species that depend on this ecosystem, including the
Northern Hairy Wood Ant, and features insights from experts such as National Nature Reserve
officer Jade Allen and ecologist Ian Rotherham.
